What is Obesity

Obesity is a disease in which a person’s weight is abnormally high, with Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than or equal to 25 Kg/m2.   


The first step in treating obesity is to follow a healthy eating plan with calorie restrictions. Obesity is manageable when a proper diet is followed along with the regular physical activity   

Choose healthier foods

Clean food also aids in weight loss. Food rich in protein, fibre and vitamins fulfils the weight loss dreams of many.   These include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, millet, nuts and seeds.     

Weight loss   

Losing weight is the primary step in reducing obesity. Weight loss is suggested to be done through healthy eating, physical activity and lifestyle changes. 5 to 10 % weight loss is ideal.   


Moderate-intensity exercises of 30 to 60 minutes daily, done thrice a week, effectively manage obesity. Exercise lowers obesity and helps in fat mass reduction.   

Be active 

A sedentary activity like prolonged sitting is linked to obesity. Be active and reduce screen time to overcome obesity. A stress-free life is a key to weight loss journey.
