Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Scheme

Health Scheme of Uttarakhand Government

To eliminate the gap in access to quality healthcare services for all its residents, the state government of Uttarakhand launched the Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana (AAUY). This has ensured that all state beneficiaries receive all benefits available to SECC beneficiaries under the AB PM-JAY scheme. This scheme included all the unique features of those in PM-JAY. The state has used the same extent of coverage and health benefit packages as in PM-JAY.

After the implementation of the AAUY, the number of beneficiaries has increased, and they receive the benefits of free medical care under this new scheme. The scheme offers cashless treatment of ₹5 lakh annually per family, along with coverage for 3 days before admission and 15 days after discharge. Treatment under the scheme will be available in government hospitals, AIIMS, and private hospitals referred by the government hospital.

However, in emergency cases, empanelled private hospitals can also provide treatment without any referral. Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana application facilities are available at Common Service Centres (CSC), hospitals, and community service centres near your location. Moreover, you can also contact the Arogya Mitra, who will provide in-depth details about the scheme and how to receive treatment under the AAUY.

What is Atal Ayusman Uttrakhand Yojana?

The Atal Ayushman Uttrakhand Yojana (AAUY) is a state-based health insurance scheme launched by the Uttarakhand government that provides ₹5 lakh per family annually for cashless hospitalisation at network hospitals. The State Health Authority (SHA) of Uttarakhand has launched this scheme alongside Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY. This scheme extends health coverage to all families in Uttarakhand, not limited to the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) lists, to cover nearly the entire population of Uttarakhand.

Who is Eligible for this Scheme Benefit?

  • Families must be residents of Uttarakhand and possess a valid ration card or family register entry.
  • This scheme provides universal coverage, which means almost all families in Uttarakhand are eligible.
  • Individuals or families must possess an Atal Ayushman Golden Card.
  • Government employees covered under CGHS/ECHS and income tax payers may not be eligible for this benefit.

What are the key features of this Scheme?

  • Coverage worth up to ₹5,00,000 per family per year
  • 1,500+ medical/surgical procedures are available for the beneficiaries
  • Covers pre-existing conditions from day one with no waiting periods

What are the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Uttarakhand?

Here are 10 key benefits of the Ayushman Bharat program in Uttarakhand:

  • Ayushman Bharat Uttarakhand provides coverage worth up to ₹5 lakh per family, including major operations and hospital stays at no cost, easing money worries.
  • Cuts down on huge medical bills, keeping families out of debt.
  • Every family member can join as this floater plan coverage includes all family members, regardless of how many there are, how old they are, or whether they’re male or female.
  • Provides pre- and post-hospitalisation care, covering up to 3 days of tests and medicines before admission and up to 15 days after discharge.
  • Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana covers all residents of Uttarakhand, as this scheme gives every family ₹5 lakh in coverage, not just those below the poverty line.
  • The plan includes pre-existing conditions, and the plan’s benefits begin and cover long-term health issues, without any waiting times or exceptions.

Key limitations of AAUY:

  • Urban-Centric Tied-Up Hospitals: Most approved hospitals are in urban areas, creating difficulties in access for remote, rural populations.
  • Service Quality Issues: Multiple empanelled hospitals suffer from a lack of adequate medical staff and resources, resulting in long waiting times and lower quality of service.
  • Coverage Limits: The scheme has a limit of ₹5 lakh per family per year, which may not be sufficient for severe ailments requiring expensive treatment and prolonged care.

Conclusion

With the help of the Atal Ayushman Uttrakhand Yojana health scheme, it has become easy for patients from the poor or middle class to get the best treatment. However, if you are seeking quality treatment and adequate coverage, you should consider a private comprehensive health insurance plan, as it is the best one to have enhanced treatment without compromising on quality or healthcare standards. So don’t ignore your health and stand in the long queue when you can have the best coverage by pairing this scheme with a private comprehensive health care plan.
