Finding out whether someone is pregnant can be an exciting experience. While the most reliable way to confirm pregnancy is through a test or a doctor’s visit, some people look for signs at home.
Here are some common pregnancy-checking methods anyone can perform at home:
1. Shampoo
First, one can collect the urine in a plastic container. Next, take another container and mix a bit of shampoo with water to create a soapy solution. Combine the urine with this shampoo-water mixture. If you see foam or froth forming, that indicates a positive result.
It is believed that the hCG hormone reacts with shampoo, causing it to fizz. There is no proven scientific basis for this method to make it believable.
2. Sugar
Add one tablespoon of sugar into a plastic bowl and mix it with one tablespoon of urine. Observe how the sugar reacts. The outcome is considered negative if it dissolves rapidly. However, if it clusters together, then the result is positive.
It is believed that the hCG present in urine prevents the sugar from dissolving. Nevertheless, there is a complete absence of scientific proof supporting this claim.
3. Toothpaste
Take two tablespoons of white toothpaste and mix it with the urine. If the toothpaste changes to blue, it indicates a positive result. The theory is that the components in the toothpaste will change colour when they interact with hCG. However, this method does not consider that toothpaste is available in different colours. There is no evidence to support its accuracy.
4. Bleach
Take 1/2 cup of urine and mix it with 1/2 cup of bleach in a small and clean container. Wait for 3 to 5 minutes. If there is foam and fizz, then it indicates a positive result. It is believed that the hCG hormone in urine interacts with the bleach, which causes it to fizz. However, like other tests, there is no scientific evidence to prove this method.
5. Soap
Mix about 2 tablespoons of urine with a small piece of soap. If it produces bubbles or froth, it is considered a positive result. Similar to shampoo, the hCG hormone is thought to cause the soap to fizz. However, there are no studies to support this claim.
6. Vinegar
Mix 1 cup of white vinegar with 1/2 cup of urine. After waiting 3 to 5 minutes, if there is a colour change, it suggests a positive result. Like toothpaste, it is said that hCG in urine reacts with vinegar, which leads to a colour change.
7. Baking soda
Gather urine in a plastic container and mix in 2 tablespoons of baking soda. If the mixture shows bubbles, it may indicate a positive result. Similar to bleach and soap, it is claimed that any hCG present in the urine will cause the baking soda to fizz. Yet again, there is no scientific proof for this claim.
8. Wine
For a wine test, collect the urine sample in a container. Make sure the container is clean. Next, add a small quantity of wine into a separate bowl. Add a few drops of urine into the wine and mix it properly. If the wine changes its colour and reaction, it might suggest pregnancy.
9. Salt
To do the Salt test, collect the urine sample in a clean container. Add a small amount of salt to the urine sample and notice if there are any reactions. If the salt forms clumps or shows a cheesy consistency in the urine sample, it might be the result of pregnancy.
10. Wheat and Barley
To do this test, take wheat and barley seeds and soak them in a container. Then, add the urine sample to that wheat and barley mixture. After two days, put the seeds in the soil. If there are visible sprouts within a few days that means there is a chance of pregnancy.
Using natural pregnancy tests made from household items might seem easy, but they can often lead to unreliable results. It is always a good idea to seek medical confirmation or talk to your doctor if you are experiencing any pregnancy symptoms. This way, you can be sure you are getting an accurate test result.
