Tongue Blisters 

A sore tongue causes pain and swelling along with white or red spots on the tongue. Though Tongue blisters are harmless, it makes the person feel no taste in their food and can also cause irritation.

Types of Tongue blisters

Tongue blisters are of three types.

Canker Sores

Canker sores are characterised by a yellow or white centre with a red outer lining in the mouth. It may be seen inside your cheeks, tongue or gums. Though you can get rid of Canker sores within seven to ten days, it gives a sense of discomfort in your mouth.

Thrush

Thrush is otherwise known as Candidiasis in the mouth. This condition is observed when the Candida fungus’ overgrowth is observed. Candida fungus overgrows when the bacteria protecting the oral tissues are inactive.

Coconut Oil

Salt 

Common salt has anti-bacterial property that prevents tongue blisters. When the mouth is rinsed with common salt and warm water mixture regularly, it heals the Tongue blisters and eliminates the bad smell in your mouth.

Honey 

Honey consists of an anti-bacterial factor that treats painful sores and prevents the emergence of secondary bacterial infection. Honey can be applied to the blisters often and can also be consumed by mixing with tea.

Clove oil 

Eugenol is present in clove oil which acts as natural anaesthesia. It numbs the blisters and aids in relieving the pain caused due to inflammation. Adding 2-3 drops of clove oil in warm water and rinsing the mouth will provide satisfying results.

Tea tree oil 

Terpinen-4-ol, an anti-inflammatory agent in tea tree oil, acts against Candidiasis or thrush. It also has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, so it controls the symptoms caused by tongue blisters.

2-3 drops of tea tree oil in warm water and swishing the mixture in your mouth for about a minute will give effective results. After spitting out, rinse your mouth with water.

Apple cider vinegar mouth wash 

The acidic nature of the apple cider vinegar will kill the bacteria that causes Tongue blisters in the mouth. As the apple cider vinegar is concentrated, dilute it by adding water. Swish the mixture in your mouth for at most a minute. Spit it out and rinse the mouth properly with fresh water.

Chamomile 

Chamomile is an active agent in reducing the pain caused due to the inflammation of blisters. As chamomile has an anti-inflammatory agent, it effectively cures tongue blisters. Drinking chamomile tea with honey will render double benefits.

Chamomile is used to treat most mouth ulcers. Rinsing the mouth with cold chamomile tea twice a day gives effective results.

Tulsi leaves 

Tulsi is treated as a sacred medicine due to the presence of anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agents. Tulsi acts as a disinfectant and helps you to get relief from the symptoms of Tongue blisters.

Consumption of raw tulsi leaves will be effective. Its medicinal value will remain the same even when consumed by adding in hot water.

Turmeric

Yoghurt

Ghee 

A spoonful of molten ghee is used in oil pulling by swishing the ghee in the mouth. If the ghee is creamy, take a few on your finger using a spoon and gently apply to the blisters. Let it undisturbed for a few minutes. Rinse it with fresh water.

Ice  

Ice will numb the area where it gets in contact with the human body. So, placing an ice cube on the blisters or drinking ice water often will numb the blistered area and lessen the inflammation.

Aloe vera 

Aloe vera heals the damaged tissues in the mouth and cures the blisters. As aloe vera has anti-inflammatory property, it decreases the pain caused due to tongue blisters. Extract the soft part of the aloe vera and consume it in the form of juice or raw pieces.
