The Government of India launched a health insurance scheme called Ayushman Bharat in 2018 to provide affordable healthcare facilities to vulnerable sections of society.
The process of applying for Ayushman Bharat health insurance starts with assessing the eligibility criteria.
Likewise, eligibility for the scheme is evaluated based on the Socio-Economic Caste Census database (SECC). Applicants belonging to the rural regions of the country are classified into categories as D1, D2, D3, D4, D5, and D7.
On the other hand, urban applicants' eligibility is evaluated based on 11 occupational criteria. In specific states, the scheme offers coverage to candidates who are beneficiaries of the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana.
Since your eligibility may vary according to the state you belong to, it is better to ensure the same by visiting the official portal of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY).
You can search for your name from the list of eligible families online by entering your ration card number, household ID number or mobile number to complete the process. Since there is no formal registration process involved in the scheme, you can find your name in the list if your family is eligible based on the SECC database.
The application process for Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance involves a few simple steps, which include the following:
If you are eligible for the scheme, your family details will be displayed on the right side of the page. You can then download the Ayush Bharat PMJAY e-card, which is a mandatory requirement for receiving medical treatment at an enrolled hospital.
Thus, to access the healthcare facilities under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, make sure to ensure your eligibility and obtain the e-card.
