IVF Treatment Full Form in medical terms stands for In Vitro Fertilization. In Vitro Fertilization refers to a fertility treatment method in which eggs are combined with sperm outside the body in a laboratory, and the resulting embryos are further transferred into the uterus of the woman.

 

A Brief History of IVF Treatment Full Form Medically  


IVF Treatment Full Form may be correctly understood by its discovery. In 1978, Robert Edwards and Patrick Steptoe introduced In Vitro fertilization (IVF) showing a important advancement in reproductive medicine. They succeeded in this method, with the first successful human birth (Louise Brown) through this IVF technique, and thus stepping way for numerous births worldwide.    

 
The fertilization outside the body (IVF) idea was not at all new, and researchers had been exploring with animals for decades.  
Samuel Leopold Schenk lead the first experiments on mammals with the help of rabbits and guinea pigs, in 1878. He demonstrated division of cell outside the body. 


Later in 1934, Gregory Pincus and Ernst Enzmann analyzed rabbit fertilization, gathering and pioneering ova and sperm outside the body, influencing the term "test tube baby".  


John Rock and Miriam Friedman Menkin further developed this mammal research to believe human eggs may fertilize outside the body. Finally, in 1944, they achieved success in the research.

 

Baby Born through IVF

 

  • In 1978, Robert Edwards and Patrick Steptoe introduced the conceive through IVF and then the first human baby through IVF, Louise Joy Brown, was born. Louise Joy Brown in England on July 25, 1978.  
  • Lesley Brown was the first woman in the world to successfully give birth to Louise Joy Brown through IVF treatment. 
  • Louise Joy Brown's birth brought significance to infertility treatment and gave enormous hope to several couples who struggled to conceive naturally.  
  •  The In Vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure involves retrieving eggs from the mother's body and fertilizing them with sperm in a test lab. Then, it involves transferring  back the resulting embryo into the uterus.

  • Shortly after Louise, the second IVF baby, Alastair MacDonald, was born. 
  • In 1985, the first IVF baby in Korea was born.
