In this vein, the Telangana State Government launched the Employee and Journalist Health Scheme (EJHS). This was done to support specific groups such as employees, pensioners, journalists, and their families.

The Employee and Journalist Health Scheme helps people who cannot afford rising healthcare costs, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. This Telangana government initiative provides cashless treatment at approved hospitals for state employees, pensioners, and their families.
Managed by the Aarogyasri Health Care Trust, the EHS employee health scheme replaces the old medical reimbursement system and includes the latest benefits, such as post-treatment care and coverage for chronic illnesses. The employees' health scheme aims to provide cashless treatment and hospitalisation for state employees, journalists, and their families. Here are its main features and benefits:

Under the EJHS, serving and retired employees, journalists, and their families can receive cashless treatment for listed diseases. However, treatments for non-listed diseases are not covered. Some beneficiaries are also not included in the scheme.

● Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) beneficiaries.
● Employees of Aarogya Bhadratha, Railways, ESIS, RTC, and Aarogya Sahayatha.
● Casual or daily wage workers.
● Independent children.
● Law officers (e.g., Public Prosecutors, Advocate General).
● Biological parents are not eligible if adopted parents exist, or vice versa.
● AIS pensioners and officers.
The EJHS generally covers Telangana State Government employees, journalists, and their dependent family members. Eligibility criteria for the EHS scheme are listed below:

Dependent Family Member Details:
● Parents: Financially dependent.
● Unemployed Sons: Below 25 years.
● Unemployed Daughters: Unmarried, divorced, widowed, or deserted.
● Children with Disabilities: Unable to work.
State employees, journalists, and pensioners can easily register for the EJHS through the official online portal or by searching for "EHS Telangana New Registration." Here’s how:

● The individual should visit the official Employee Health Scheme (EHS) portal.
● There, they have to click ‘Sign-in’ on the top-right and select ‘Employees.’
● Then, they must use their Employee ID as the username and initial password and reset it if needed.
●Beneficiaries shouldfirst log in to the EHS portal and go to 'Registration.'
●Next, they have to select ‘Add New Beneficiary’ and provide details.
●After that, they should attach the required documents (DOB for children under 5 and Aadhaar for those above 5).
●Lastly, they must save, review, and submit the details.
● Beneficiaries can download the form from the EJHS portal under ‘Declaration Form by Employee.’
● Visit the Journalist Health Scheme portal and click ‘User Login.’
● Enter username and password.
● Add beneficiaries, download health cards, and perform other tasks as instructed.
● Visit the EHS portal and log in with your username and password.
● Click on ‘Registration’ and select ‘Download Health Card.’
● Review the beneficiary details displayed on the next page.
● Click ‘Print’ to download and save the TS employee health card.

The Telangana Government's Employee Health Scheme now includes pensioners and their families by replacing the old medical reimbursement system. Here's how pensioners can enrol:
● Scanned copies of a pensioner and his family members’ Aadhaar cards.
● Passport-sized photos (45mm x 35mm) of a pensioner and family members, under 200KB.
● Disability Certificates (if any)
● Spouse’s Employee/Pensioner ID (if applicable)
● DOB Certificates for family members under 5 years old.
After approval by STO/APO, the beneficiaries will be notified when their TS employee health card download is ready.

Here's how the claim for the EHS scheme process works:
● The hospital where the treatment took place submits the necessary documents to the Health Trust.
● The Trust reviews the claim and, once approved, settles the payment with the hospital.
● All financial transactions are managed through the Trust portal while ensuring proper examination of the hospital’s documents.
