CPM is used for the treatment of itching, runny nose, sneezing, and watery eyes that occur due to allergies, the common cold, or the flu. One of the main side effects of this CPM is sedation or sleepiness, which could vary from slight drowsiness to deep sleep. So, it is recommended to avoid driving or operating any machinery if you avail of these side effects. Other side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, constipation, stomach upset, or dry mouth/throat/nose might happen.

Chlorpheniramine is considered safe for kidneys, as it could be used by people having kidney problems to treat their allergic symptoms. People who suffer from kidney failure tend to see Chlorpheniramine side effects since the medicine could accumulate in the system because of a lack of proper kidney function.

Chlorpheniramine comes alone and along with fever and pain reducers, cough suppressants, expectorants, and decongestants. Request your doctor or pharmacist for advice on which product is best for your symptoms. Do not self-medicate with this medicine on your own.

Nonprescription cough and cold combination products, like medicines that have chlorpheniramine, can result in serious side effects or death in young children. Do not give these products to children younger than 4 years of age. If you provide this medicine to children 4-11 years of age, you could use caution and follow the package directions carefully after getting a consultation from your doctor.
